Ready Mixed Concrete Truck Driver

Basic Function

Responsible for transporting concrete and products as directed by dispatch and management. Will drive a commercial concrete truck and complete assigned duties in a safe, timely, professional and cost effective manner. In addition, this position will be responsible for operating other commercial motor vehicle(s) which may be assigned as needed. These may include – but are not limited to, bulker, dump truck, side dump, aggregate truck, semi, low-boy or any vehicle management assigns to Truck Driver.

Qualifications

Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) and DOT (Department of Transportation) medical card. Experience preferred and education in defensive driving techniques desired. Physical and mental stamina to complete the following essential job functions for 12 hours per day.

Condition of Employment

Employee is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements. Satisfactory completion of pre-employment reference checks, skill assessment testing, driver’s license reports, background checks, negative post-offer drug and alcohol tests, and other requirements as per DOT regulations are conditions of employment.

Essential Job Functions

1. Ability to drive and operate commercial trucks and equipment safely. E.g. Assemble and disassemble chute; Operate control panels to adjust height of chute; operate control panel to unload concrete, etc.
2. Work under the direction of dispatch and management, to transport and deliver concrete and other products to construction sites and other customer sites.
3. Use console to update job status and progress when delivering products to customer sites.
4. Follow safe procedures.  Follow company and industry standards and practices, for safely unloading concrete and other products at customer sites.
5. Ability to climb in and out of trucks, and up and down truck ladders approximately 10 to 12 feet high on a frequent basis each day, in order to complete the tasks involved in delivering concrete and other products.
6. Ability to drive, sit, stand, walk and climb on a frequent basis while working within climatic weather extremes.
7. Follow safe lifting practices to lift up to 50 to 100 lbs on a minimal basis and up to 40 lbs on an occasional basis.  E.g. Be mindful of uneven ground; weather conditions; weight of the load; height of the lift; employ team lift if necessary; use good body mechanics, including no twisting and bending; stretch prior to the lift and use slow deliberate maneuvers, etc.
8. On an occasional basis, may have to unload the concrete in a wheelbarrow and push the wheelbarrow to the site for dumping the concrete.  May have to handle several loads of concrete using a wheelbarrow.
9. Complete pre-trip and post trip checks of the concrete transportation truck, in accordance with company guidelines and practices.
10. Responsible for routine cleaning (including inside mixer drum) as well as regularly scheduled housekeeping for equipment, trucks and cleaning at job sites. Maintain a clean trash free truck cabin, by regularly disposing any trash items and wiping down dirt.
11.  Ability to work in confined spaces (i.e inside mixer drum).
12. Responsible for the proper use and storage of all company equipment, tools, and supplies.
13. Provide service to customers conforming to quality, safety and professional standards, including a professional standard of conduct in terms of language, reliability and personal hygiene.
14. Assist management by inspecting and verifying all outgoing shipments to ensure quantity, quality, slump, extra products, etc.
15. Contact management immediately with regards to:
    • Any public or customer inquiries and/or concerns
    • Any safety failures and/or deviances from safety procedures and guidelines
    • Any deviance from scheduling guidelines that may become a potential problem for the company and/or the customer.
16. Ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely fashion, including but not limited to time cards, and DOT inspection reports with the ability to utilize this information to schedule required cleaning and maintenance of company vehicle’s (routine oil, grease and tire checks, etc.) Insuring that Company equipment is in safe working condition.
17. Personally adhere to (be an example), and become proficient in all areas of production and safety (i.e., Defensive driving, vehicle and equipment maintenance and up-keep; technical training, lockout tagout, accident inquiry, hazardous material procedures, emergency exit, PPE, lifting, tool safety, etc.).
18. Attended all safety meetings, production meetings, and company sponsored training and education events.
19. Be flexible and available to work required overtime and Saturdays as well as an occasional Sunday or holiday.  Ability to work well under pressure and meet project schedules.
20. Understand that attendance and on time punctuality are required.
21. Ability to read and interpret documents such as delivery tickets, safety policies, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and city maps.  As well as, follow written (along with the verbal) instructions, to complete the necessary paperwork.
22. Understand the importance of wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
23. Respect the authority of Dispatch and management and perform any other duties as assigned by them.

Quality Control Manager

General Description:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual with strong initiative, punctuality, and enthusiasm. The ideal candidate will have experience in the concrete or construction field, with proficiency in dispatching and order management. Reporting directly to the General Manager (GM) or designated representative, the Quality Control Manager will ensure accurate documentation, effective issue resolution, and adherence to quality standards. Availability for Saturday work is required.

Key Responsibilities

Job Tracking and Quality Control

• Review and document findings on all bid projects, coordinating with the GM.
• Collaborate with dispatch and back-office teams for job setup.
• Ensure accurate concrete testing, documentation, and mix adjustments based on seasonal changes.
• Conduct concrete testing at various locations as required.
• Perform on-site quality control as directed by the GM.
• Manage ACI training and employee certification records.
• Oversee QA/QC processes and testing across all plants.
• Track break results and coordinate ACI 318 compliance.
• Participate in mix design submittals and collaborate with the GM and other stakeholders.
• Communicate mix design details with customers, engineers, architects, and owners.

Customer Service and Relations

• Coordinate daily scheduling between plants, dispatchers, and managers.
• Manage truck and driver schedules.
• Act as the primary liaison between customers and dispatchers for orders, issues, scheduling, and mix designs.
• Resolve customer disputes to ensure high-quality product and service delivery.
• Assist in gathering job information for pricing and collaborate with the GM on quotes.

Dispatch

• Accurately take and process orders.
• Assist dispatchers with phone calls during peak times.
• Demonstrate proficiency in batching across all locations.
• Learn order taking and batching processes at all locations to serve as a backup dispatcher and batch operator.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; 2-year college degree preferred but not required.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in concrete or construction.
• Knowledge of concrete mix designs.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and using Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong communication and math skills are essential.
• Ability to work extended hours, including early mornings and Saturdays.
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
• Team player with a positive attitude.

Plant Maintenance

• Perform maintenance tasks efficiently and safely under supervisor guidance.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies.
• Lift up to 100 lbs. with proper techniques and safety measures.
• Climb stairs and perform routine cleaning of equipment and plant areas.
• Start up and shut down plant operations daily.
• Conduct site inspections and complete preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Grease and maintain equipment regularly.
• Make all repairs needed at all plant sites and properties.
• Daily, weekly and monthly site inspections or as needed.
• Use and store company tools and equipment properly.
• Attend safety, production, and training meetings as required.

Shop, Yard, and Driving

• Conduct daily inspections of all fleet and equipment.
• Perform regular maintenance on all fleet and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair all fleet and equipment promptly.
• Track and monitor shop inventory; assist with ordering parts and materials as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized shop environment.
• Operate shop equipment, including torches, impacts, grinders, welders, plasma cutters, compressors, and other tools necessary for mechanical tasks.
• Communicate respectfully with supervisors, managers, dispatchers, foremen, batch personnel, drivers, and others.
• Undertake additional tasks as assigned by supervisors and management when work is completed.
• Drive and haul materials, including ready mix, aggregates, and dirt, as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with a positive attitude, keeping the company’s and customers’ best interests in mind.

Customer Service and Relations

• Repair fleet and equipment on job sites to ensure units are back on the road promptly.
• Communicate effectively with customers onsite, providing clear explanations of repairs and solutions.
• Provide real-time updates to supervisors, dispatchers, or managers regarding issues and repair progress.
• Travel to different plants or job sites as needed for assistance.

Concrete Batching

• Efficiently batch ready-mix concrete.
• Coordinate and prioritize truck loading and job orders.
• Manage phone and radio communications while loading trucks.
• Take orders in the dispatcher’s absence.
• Understand and apply concrete mix designs.
• Maintain a high standard of organization, cleanliness, and precision.
• Utilize strong math and computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Communicate effectively with truck drivers, customers, production, and quality control teams.
• Exhibit a positive attitude and follow directions from management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in diesel trucks, ready mix trucks, semi-trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, concrete, construction, and/or maintenance.
• Knowledge of welding, steel fabrication, and mechanical systems.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work extended hours, including early mornings and Saturdays.
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and travel to different plant locations.
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
